Angela Walker's Platform:

*Advocate for a living wage, increasing earning power for families hurt by income inequality. Work with community partners to strengthen transit and job opportunities so poverty is greatly reduced. Push for public schools to be fully funded to prepare our youngest residents for full, productive lives.

*Seek to expand alternatives to incarceration, such as treatment alternatives and restorative justice measures. Locking people up and throwing them away is not sound policy for our communities and families.

*Advocate for the legalization and decriminalization of marijuana, for its benefits to our local tax base and its impact on mass incarceration rates. Incarcerating nonviolent marijuana offenders is unnecessary, harsh, and costly for taxpayers.

*Work to keep people in their homes by refusing to extend manpower to banks for foreclosures.

*Invoke the ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Detainer Ordinance passed in 2012 that allows the Sheriff’s Office to refrain from ICE sweeps that devastate neighborhoods and separate families. These sweeps do nothing to strengthen our community.

*Advocate for the restoration of voting rights for people who have been incarcerated, including those newly released from prison. Those in prisons should also be allowed to exercise their civil right to vote.

*Advocate for the public ownership of vacant public buildings, and address issues of homelessness in a compassionate and constructive way.


Sheriffs are peace officers. Let’s work to create peace on our streets through economic and social justice, sound policy advocacy, and genuine cooperation within our neighborhoods. Milwaukee can be the city it needs to be for ALL of us who live here.
